Work motivation driven by the reason why

Recent research on worker productivity found that production could more than double by reminding workers of the significance and meaningfulness of their own jobs. Just reminding them of why their jobs are important does the trick. To do this, a researcher:

read stories from the beneficiaries of the fundraising organization, who described how the scholarships they obtained from the organization had a positive impact on their lives (Task Significance condition)

Then the fund-raising more than doubled, while the other groups had no change.
